I WAS A: genius with minions. I'm now a relocated genius sans minions.
I'M SKILLED IN: Technology, Ancient and otherwise.
I'M LOOKING FOR: Tech I've never seen before that you don't want back.
ALSO, I'M: Irritated by the vast quantity of physics-violating objects and alcohols.

More importantly, turning into a jet plane? ]
Well, no, but with my more advanced genetics I'm assuming anything is possible.
[ And with that, John turns and shoulders his way into a bar -- Seren padding along happily by his feet. It's small, and relatively quiet at this time of day, but the barkeep looks up and offers John a smile that says he knows him ]

[Ah, that's an indignant squawk if there ever was.]
Excuse you, there's nothing 'more advanced' about being a throwback. Or a Natha experiment or whatever you are.
[Skipping a step to catch up, he mutters in disgruntlement. John's might be admittedly vaguely special, but not that special, and certainly not advanced. There's a huff or two involved as Rodney argues with himself about the very idea and what John might be implying as he follows John into the bar.
Oh, he just followed John (and Seren) into the bar. The change in locale pulls him halfway out of his huff. He blinks at the barkeep and then at John.]
You're a regular here, aren't you.

John lofts an eyebrow at Rodney in silent judgement, then gestures to the bar expansively. ]
Elementary, my dear Watson. Now, what do you want to drink?
[ The barkeeper, seemingly unmoved by their exchange, has come out from behind the bar to pet Seren -- who, fearsome guard-dog that she is, is already rolling around on the floor in delight. ]
no subject
Um.
[Coffee his beverage of choice, the sheer quantity of caffeine coursing his veins mixes poorly with any sort of depressant like alcohol, especially sort of...early in the day. So that question is tricky. He wrinkles his nose and watches Seren shamelessly cadge bellyrubs from their barkeep. At least he's not under pressure.]
Whatever you're getting?
no subject
At least pretend to be dignified, come on!
[ Seren, who may not understand the words but recognises the tone, rolls to sit up and shakes a little. This leaves the barkeeper unable to rub her (extremely fluffy) belly, so he relents and pushes up to his feet -- pausing to wash his hands while John gestures for two drinks. ]
Anyway, I'm not the only one who developed weird abilities so it's definitely possible you could do it. Maybe you too can be a weird experiment.

[An idle observation as Rodney settles himself at the bar, because they're at a bar and isn't that what people do? If John wants to sit at a table or something, he's going to have to be more specific.
At he 'you too' comment, though, he sniffs in his a very distinctive 'no, I definitely do not ever want to experience that and I am also lying.']
Maybe. I'm not sure how weird it would be as an experiment here, especially if everyone's getting random abilities.
[Oh, but the curiosity:] Who else has them? Besides you?
no subject
Well.
Ianto, which is awkward.
John settles himself sitting beside Rodney and takes a drink as he's offered it, immediately sipping it to buy time. ]
I knew a guy who had some healing ability thing.
[ 'I knew a guy' sounds weirdly made up but: actually, true. ]
no subject
[If Rodney could heal himself, then he might be infinitesimally less concerned about getting hurt. Of course, he'd still have gotten hurt in the first place which: not ideal.
And it's not like he hasn't done the experimental gene therapy before, after all.
He peers at his drink, takes a sip and tries not make a face.]
I would prefer something useful. Oh. Like. Bamfing.
no subject
Yeah, but you'd need Nightcrawler's fancy spatial awareness too so you didn't bamf yourself into a brick wall.
[ Teleporting is cool and all, but also: potentially dangerous. ]
